Over the last fifteen years or so, I've worked on a dozen major web apps that were written in Perl. The vast majority of them were written in Catalyst.

But it's also true that most of these apps have been rewritten in the last five or ten years. They've been replaced by systems written in Java, Scala, Node.js, Python and Ruby. I don't think a single one has been replaced by PHP.
